"Jacksonville University opened its doors in 1934 as a two year community college. In 1950, the College relocated to its present site in its first permanent structure, the Founders Building. With the decision to expand to a four year program, Jacksonville Junior College became Jacksonville University in 1956.
The university offers many student clubs and organizations, intramurals, and a Division I athletic program. JU students participate in a community service program as part of their curriculum requirements, helping them to identify and confront community problems. Northeast Florida’s amazing climate offers students the chance to take a break from studies and explore the eco-wonderland that surrounds the area. Whether it’s the nearby beaches, pristine freshwater estuaries or woodlands, JU and Florida’s First Coast provide a wealth of activities for outdoor lovers. " |
