About the Course

The MBA in Sport Management program at Florida Atlantic University was started in the year 2000. It is currently the only AACSB-accredited MBA in Sport Management in the State of Florida, and one of only 5 or 6 in the entire United States. The program director is Jim Riordan, a former front office executive with the New York Mets and founder of the MS in Sport Administration program at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Riordan has placed over 85% of the students who earned their degree under him into full-time positions in the sport and entertainment industry. Although less than two years old, FAU MBASport students are currently, or have been employed with such organizations as The US Open Tennis Championships, Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins, University of Miami Athletics, and the Baltimore Orioles. A major internship is required to graduate, but students are expected to undertake mini-internships and practical while they are taking classes. All classes are at night. The MBA specialization is 12 credits. It includes Sport Law, Sport Marketing, Financial Aspects of Sport and much more! Most classes are held in Fort Lauderdale.

Florida Atlantic University, a member of the State University System of Florida, was established in 1961 and opened its doors to students in 1964, Its total enrollment is 25,000 and more than 70,000 men and women are FAU alumni.
