About The Slaney Language Centre and the courses
The SLC is a small and privately run language centre offering tailor-made language learning for adults. With a maximum of 8 and an average of 5 students, our groups are small and teaching is student centred. Participants receive a warm welcome at the SLC and quickly gain confidence expressing themselves regardless of their level.
Our fully qualified tutors have many years of teaching experience in Ireland and abroad and enjoy the students’ company during and outside the lessons. Many of our students return to our school year after year.
We develop the student’s listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. The emphasis is on conversation. Our language tutors meet on a regular basis to monitor the learner’s progress and modify classes accordingly. We use a wide variety of teaching materials, many of them developed ‘in-house’. Students are encouraged to join local activities and our organised excursions.
The SLC is located just outside Wexford town in a castle building overlooking the river Slaney and the Blackstairs Mountains.
Wexford is a lively and friendly coastal town famous for its miles of unspoiled sandy beaches, its welcoming people and its annual Wexford Festival Opera. Located in the Southeast, Wexford enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other part of Ireland.
The school presents a homely as well as professional atmosphere providing a suitable surrounding for both concentrated studying and meantime relaxing.
Students can use at any time
- a library offering a wide range of novels, text books and reference materials for all levels
- free Internet access and also WIFI for students who bring their own labtop computer
