About the Master's Program in Renewable Energy, Environment and Climate Protection

The Master's study starts with a Summer University course (one month, see http://www.eco-uni.de) and continues with MSc./MEng. studies by e-learning that are based on textbooks in the selected subjects, lecture scripts and videos. Regular internet calls with professors are also part of the course. The students' knowledge is tested by control questions about the different subjects, written homework and online calls. After one successful year the German certificate of the "Engineer's Chamber Saxony-Anhalt" called "Fachingenieur” (Engineer specialist in renewable energy, environment and climate protection) is awarded.

After the third successful year, another Summer University has to be completed and the MSc./MEng. Diploma will be awarded.

Content

Introduction to renewable energies and climate protection, Thermodynamics and theory of heat transfer, Fluid mechanics, Electrical engineering and fuel cell technology, Physical chemistry (physical characteristics, reaction kinetics), Photovoltaics (physics of the solar cell), solar physics, Solar heat, solar cooling, Wind power, Water power, Geo-thermal energy, Bioenergy engineering, Energy economy (incl. hydrogen economy), Building energy engineering, Business administration, Measuring and control engineering, Process engineering and energy conversion, incl. heat pumps and co-generation: Design and installation, Energy storage, Sustainable ecology in corporate policy, Elective subjects, project works and training periods and Master' thesis.

About Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME)

Péter Pázmány, the primate Archbishop of Hungary, founds the first Hungarian University of the New Age at Nagyszombat in 1635. In the late 18th century the University moves to Buda and becomes the University of Buda. The name "Technical University of Budapest" becomes official in 1949. From this time the university consists of the faculties of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In 1955 the Faculty of Transportation Engineering was established. Since 1994 the Technical University of Budapest is among the first universities in Hungary to introduce the credit system.

The university applies the credit assignment according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in its accredited academic programs. In 1998 the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences were established. In 2000 changes the official name to Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

More than 110 departments and institutes operate within the structure of eight faculties. About 1100 lecturers, 400 researchers and other degree holders and numerous invited lecturers and practicing expert specialists participate in education and research at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Approximately 800 of the university's 14.000 students are from 50 countries abroad. The Budapest University of Technology and Economics is a very famous university of engineering degrees.
