Bachelor’s in Telecommunications and Post Office Business Management
The Telecommunications and Post Office Business Management program is a profiled programme designed especially for the students at our university. Its aim is to promote the successful training of highly qualified experts having a leader’s approach and relevant managerial skills for one of the fastest growing business sectors of the world’s economy - the sector of telecommunications and post office.
The programme has a 92 percent labor market compliance rate which is one of the highest rates for successful professional realization of graduates in Bulgaria in general. It is available for enrolment in full-time courses, correspondent learning, and distance learning in English. The full-time course lasts for four years and is divided into eight semesters.
The teaching staff consists of respected university professors and top-class outside professionals, well-respected in the corporate sector with both domestic and international experience. They introduce the students to the newest scientific inventions and build an agile working approach with the mindset on the recognition and implementation of innovations and good business practices.
The curriculum is based on our strong and durable partnership experience with our multiple corporate partners in the telecommunication sector (including giants like A1 mobile and Siemens), thus allowing the simultaneous exchange of information between the parties and facilitating the meeting of the ever-increasing demand for formation of new useful managerial skills.

The program fosters the curiosity and creativity of our students, offering them the challenge to solve real-life business problems and study practical cases. We encourage the students’ mobility and the participation in academic exchange programs which provides the thorough understanding of the studied matter and finally result in their better performance compared to the performance of the students in relevant courses in other European countries.
The curriculum is structured in three main blocks of subjects.
The first one consists of the mandatory disciplines that give the basic academic and practical fundamental knowledge. It includes the disciplines Micro and Macroeconomics, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Law and Business Law, Accounting, Controlling, Management, Marketing, Risk Management, and Planning.
The second block is concentrated on the studying of a large group of subjects and the students opt to pick those ones that match their professional aspirations and ambitions best. It also includes the learning of a foreign languages of choice.
The third block offers the students the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities – projects, internship programs, academic and scientific forums, etc. This helps them to form their precise interests and to present their achievements in front of potential employers which enlarges their academic opportunities.
The teaching methods we use comply with the highest standards of the European Union universities as we heavily rely on applying individual learning forms in small groups that mix together theory and practical exercises. Students are motivated to take part in corporate cases simulations, seminars, and use online platforms for presentations.
The final assessment of the students uses various forms - written examinations, tests, homework assignments, essay writing, both online and offline presentations. The performance of the students in practical exercises also takes part in the formation of their final mark.
The program graduates have an excellent understanding of the basic economic disciplines (marketing, accounting, finance management, business intelligence etc.). It allows them to form a detailed analysis of business processes, solve practical cases, organize administrative staff and procedures, manage business structures in the telecommunications and postal services economic branches. They have the detailed knowledge of the ongoing processes in the telecommunications sector, as well as the understanding of the national and European policies and guidelines. They are skilled to work with analytical tools for forecasting and current assessment of the local and international business climate. Our graduates are also competent in strategic planning. They have targeting, task assignment, and controlling skills and can act with an individual management style, with confidence and awareness of their corporate responsibilities. The University of Telecommunications and Post (UTP) is a fast developing specialized professional higher education institution, where 140 year tradition meets cutting edge innovation in the field of Telecommunications, ICT, Cybersecurity, SMART – leadership and Management of the IT, telecom ad postal services.
Team
UTP has around 1 500 students from Bulgaria and the neighbouring Serbia, North Macedonia, Turkey, as well as students from Albania, Moldova and Ukraine. Academic and administrative stuff of 70 people moves the university forward.

The Application Process Explained:
1. In order to start their application process foreign candidates are required to submit the following documents:
- A Diploma for completed secondary education.
- An Appendix to the diploma for completed secondary education. In case the diploma is not accompanied by an assessment scale, in which the maximum grade is visible, the candidate must present an official document containing such a description.
- A document issued by a competent state authority certifying the right of the applicant to continue his/her education in the academies, colleges or universities in the country of the candidate’s secondary education graduation. This document can be issued by the school where the secondary education was completed. It must contain the text: "The education obtained entitles the person to continue his/her education in higher education institutions in ... (country of origin of the school)” or another text, similar in meaning.
- Photocopy of Passport / ID card.
- Application.
- Passport photos size 4.5 / 3.5 cm. - 6 photos
- CV (autobiography).
2. The documents referred to in point 1, must be:
- presented in notarized copies; or
- certified :
- by virtue of the provisions of relevant mutual legal assistance treaties, signed between Bulgaria and the candidate’s home country; or
- by Apostille when the candidates’s home country is a member of the Hague Convention; or
- by the respective Ministry of Education (and/or the Ministry of Health), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in the candidate’s home country; or
- translated into Bulgarian with legalized translation in Bulgaria. The translated documents should be sent for certifying the translator's signature to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
3. Foreign candidates have to send scanned copies of all required documents for preliminary checks to the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office at UTP via email m.penkova@utp.bg
4. Upon the completion of preliminary checks, foreign candidates should send the originals by mail to the following address:

5. The Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office at UTP submits the documents for approval to the Ministry of Education and Science. Standard response time varies from two weeks up to a month.
5.1. The Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria issues a certificate needed for issuing a student’s visa (type D) following a positive resolution of the student’s initial application.
5.2. In case of a negative response from the Ministry of Education and Science due to incomplete document set or any other noncompliance assertions, an official letter is sent to UTP, containing the official reasons for turning down the application. Candidates may be granted another opportunity to compile the full set of documents and resubmit for additional check, within extended application deadlines, as needed.
6. Upon receiving the final approval of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office at UTP issues and signs a certificate confirming that the candidate has been offered admission and sends the following documents to the candidate to assist his/her application for a Bulgarian student’s visa (type “D”):
- Certificate issued by the Ministry of Education and Science;
- Certificate issued by the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office at UTP.
7. Foreign candidates have to file an application form for a Bulgarian student’s visa (type “D”) with the diplomatic or consular missions of the Republic of Bulgaria in their home country.
