Opportunities for Graduates to Work in the Betting Industry

The gambling industry has brought with it new and exciting employment opportunities. As graduates from different fields of study look for employment opportunities, they should consider the gambling industry. There are numerous betting companies emerging every day, providing graduates with viable job opportunities. If you are a university graduate in search of a job, check out these jobs in the betting industry that could be fascinating.

Graphic Design

With most if not all betting activities happening online in the present world, graphic designers are essential. As a graphic designer, your responsibility is to take care of all the visual aspects of the betting websites and apps. You’ll also be responsible for more than the graphical user interface. Some websites host proprietary games and other functionalities that a graphic designer’s skill set could come in handy.

To work as a graphic designer, you must have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field. You’ll have an added advantage if you have several years of experience. You should also be prepared for tough competition from other graphic designers from around the globe. The ability of the tasks to be carried out remotely has influenced the salaries because betting companies can obtain cheaper services from graphic designers from third-world countries.

Audit Investigator

Working in the betting industry does not necessarily mean that you are working for a betting company. You can work as an Audit Investigator for a betting regulatory agency. Your responsibilities will include reviewing records of betting license holders to check whether they report and pay their taxable returns from gaming. You’ll also audit the betting companies’ compliance to industry regulations. To work in this role, you must be a graduate in the accounting field. It would be best if you also were pursuing certification as a Certified Public Accountant. Other competencies include understanding of business administration and the gambling industry operations. You’ll spend most of your time in the field visiting betting companies’ offices. There is room for career growth where you can rise into an accountant or other management positions.

Public Relations Specialist

Most PR specialists work for betting companies as opposed to government regulators. As a PR regulator, your responsibilities will revolve around gaming regulations, and you must have expert level knowledge of gambling law, accounting, public relations, taxation and regulation. Most casinos employ talented lawyers with the experience to head their PR departments. You must also have knowledge of customer relations and the gaming industry as a whole. It does not offer much room for career development.

Technology Auditor

Betting companies need Technology Auditors to test and recommend gambling devices and games for endorsement by relevant agencies. As a Technical Auditor, your responsibilities include statistical, mathematical, and computer simulations to analyze new games and game styles. You’ll play a massive role in the approval process for the betting company’s wagering systems.

This role requires graduates in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science. You’ll have an added advantage if you have a higher level of math and software engineering. You should also be able to program with high-level programming languages.

Teacher

You must be wondering what role a Teacher would play in the betting industry. Well, don’t. Betting companies need teachers to educate dealers, maintenance workers and auditors on the skills they need for their jobs. For instance, before one becomes a dealer, they must undergo a six-week training session.

You must have a Bachelor’s Degree in educations to work in this role. Having teacher certifications will be an added advantage. Any other additional training is also desirable.
